Doug Lee, the writer of Skype scripts for JAWS has made an 11 so minute recording on future plans for these scripts. You can download the MP3 file at

I'm glad he's elected to do it himself as a last resort. I have no doubt that it'll be a great update, but its still a bit saddening that Skype have been so inflexible with regards to timestamps. They've been hardwired in for so long now that I just naturally tune them out.

He's been doing a wonderful job.
Lately, the scripts are right up to par with current releases.

Now if they would just make them similar to the gw connect layout.

that's not gonna happen. if you want the GW layout, use GW connect.

Yeah, well, GW Connect is going away. I just got an email about it. It sucks on a level I can't even explain, because I hate the layout of the regular Skype client.

I like the layout.
I do think setup is important however.
If you don't spend time reading how to use the scripts, they don't work as well.
Like most programs, I'm a strong believer in reading the information provided.
In this fashion, I get more mileage from it, then trying to figure it out.

I'd much rather the main layout of Skype, but GW connect has surved me verry well over the past few weeks while I've had laptop issues. Its definitely more intuitive from the get go.

Window-Eyes has an app that is supposed to enhance Skype and a Social-eyes app, so maybe GW connect functionality will be added to one of thsose.
